A Few Words About Magnification

Five points to keep in mind before choosing a magnification aid:

Viewing Time - Can the work be viewed for the necessary time without eyestrain, headaches, or nausea?

Distortion - How good is the quality of the lens? Operators will resist using poor quality lenses because distortion is a major cause of eye fatigue and lower quality performance.

Working Distance - Is there enough distance between the lens and the object to allow hands to move freely to maneuver tools and parts?

Depth of Field - Can you still maintain a sharp three-dimensional image if an object is moved closer to the lens, or further away?

Illumination - Is the lighting bright, glare-free, and uniform for the most productive use of your magnifier?

Using a MasterLens is a different experience. You’ll first notice the large magnified working area made possible by the 48 sq. in. lens. Without moving either the work or the magnifier your eyes can scan much more "geography" than with conventional magnifiers. Second, you’ll see a bright three-dimensional image where everything stays in sharp focus. That’s because this piano-convex lens is designed to keep work objects in focus up to 14" from the lens. You can actually work with tools and instruments without groping. There is no loss of depth perception - everything stays in focus. This simply means that operators can work fast with more accuracy and greater eye safety and comfort than ever before.

This unique illumination system that comes with every MasterLens gives bright, shadow-free lighting over the entire work area. The source of illumination consists of twin 4-watt miniature flourescent lamps, encased in an aluminum housing with an on/off switch. The housing can be rotated to provide directional lighting control.
